Shop historic Shipshewana and enjoy the legendary flea market, 88 retail shops and authentic Amish dining

Shipshewana is a bustling village with shop-lined streets, specialty retailers and home-style dining establishments. Shoppers search for handcrafted items, baked goods and whatnot in picturesque turn-of-the-century storefronts. Every Tuesday and Wednesday from the first of May through the end of October, the Midwest’s largest flea market brims with serious shoppers and the simply curious.

Some half a million visitors per year come from around the country and from other parts of the world to see Shipshewana, Indiana. Many people come to participate in an auction, buying and selling, and to shop at the stores in the historic downtown. Others come for the special festivals that take place throughout the year, and to see the enchanting lights of the Christmas season. And some visit to learn more about the Amish and Mennonites whose faith and simpler way of life holds special attraction in an age when speed and change are the hallmarks of modern-day culture.
