Fabulous Places to stay
Sometimes great getaways are more about where you stay than where you go. Here are some of Northern Indiana’s most memorable places to stay.
Inn at Aberdeen, Valparaiso
When you settle in at this lovely white-sided inn, be prepared for ultimate pampering. It’s easy to imagine why the original 1856 farmhouse that still remains the core of the inn was once known as Timberlake Farm. That’s because of the heavily wooded land and variety of lakes and streams on the property, where the original owners grew apples. When John and Linda Johnson, the inn’s current proprietors, purchased the land in 1995, they envisioned combining the inn’s rich history with renovations that provide an elegant getaway for today’s guests.
Today the inn features 11 spacious suites, each with either a king or two queen beds. Most of the suites feature whirlpool tubs, a fireplace and/or a balcony. The rooms are filled with amenities, such as robes, cable TV, Wi-Fi and even bubble bath. Guests enjoy an evening dessert and unlimited snacks and beverages in the Solarium, as well as a three-course breakfast. Guests are free to enjoy the library, solarium, gazebo and gardens. An 18-hole golf course designed by Michael Hurdzan surrounds the inn, and a salon, spa and restaurant are adjacent. The inn is also available for special functions and business retreats.
